Currently, research on the engagement characteristics of warped clutches remains extremely limited. This paper investigates the engagement characteristics of warped friction pairs. Based on the geometric, flow field, and microscopic contact characteristics of friction pairs, an inter-plate load-carrying capacity model for warped friction pairs is established. It incorporates the force-displacement characteristics of the separation spring and warped clutch plates; by coupling axial and circumferential motions during engagement, parameters such as the wet clutch’s engagement time and torque are solved. Differences in engagement characteristics between two friction pairs with distinct geometric features are compared. Engagement tests are conducted using an MM6000 wet friction material performance tester, and test results are compared with theoretical calculations to verify the engagement model’s reliability.},
